Proverbs 11: 24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. Proverbs 11:28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. Proverbs 12:11 He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgement. Proverbs 13:11 Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.
Lessons on Stewardship 1. God owns it all. 2. Money is never an end in itself, but is merely a resource used to accomplish other goals and obligations. 3. Spend less than you earn and do it for a long time, and you will be financially successful. Is it wrong to then have a long-term goal of financial independence? I believe not--unless financial independence is defined as having enough to be independent from God. Source: Excerpt from Lesson on Stewardship by Ron Blue. Taken from Men's Devotional Bible (NIV).
It all depends on whether you have things, or they have you.
