Daily Bible Reading:

Isaiah 1:15-18

15 And when You spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. 16 wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight!Stop doing wrong, 17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. 18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;  though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

In this passage and preceding verses, God is telling His people, He is tired of their pretenses. He doesn't want to hear anymore of their fake prayers and promises. He wants them to repent and have a broken and contrite spirit before Him. He is sick of their pretending to love Him. He is Almighty God and He deserves our reverence and adoration. He wants our love and commitment. He says if we do not repent and let our sins be washed away, by the precious blood of Jesus, He will not hear our prayers.
God will not answer our prayers unless we are willing to give Him our lives in return. He is not a Santa Claus who fulfills every wish, every carnal desire. He demands holiness, He demands our respect and love. Otherwise He will not hear our prayers.

Prayer

Father God, forgive us for our pretending. Lord, lead us in the way we should go. Give us a broken and contrite spirit. Wash us clean with Your precious blood, Jesus. Help us to turn from evil.  In Jesus name, Amen.
